Turn It Up: Music Festivals in the Bay Area
If you’re looking for a music festival, then you’re in luck because summer abounds with soulful sounds in the Bay Area. Now through June 18th the San Francisco Jazz Festival will fill the days and nights with performances by international jazz sensations as well as local up-and-coming artists at five venues across the Hayes Valley. Food trucks and a beer garden will be available to keep you rocking into the night. On Saturday, June 17, in Potrero Del Sol Park, you can check out Phono Del Soul, a music and food festival with a wide range of genres to satisfy both your ear and your taste buds. Musical acts include Thee Oh Sees, The Coathangers, and Jay Som (to name only a few), and foods ranges from waffles to ice cream, from Indian curry to Korean cuisine. And if you're in the mood for a more classic vibe, you might try San Francisco Opera in the Park on Friday, June 30, when the famed opera company’s live performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni will be simulcast on the big screen in AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.
