Moneyball in Action
Ever since he was portrayed by Brad Pitt in the film Moneyball in 2011, Oakland A’s Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Billy Beane has become one of the most famous and popular front office person in all of Major League Baseball. Each year, Beane and the rest of the front office try to build a strong Oakland A’s ball club based on advanced statistics and algorithms as highlighted in the film and the book of the same name. This is your chance to see the team in action, and hopefully be a part of history when Beane’s strategy results in a World Series Championship. The A’s play at the beautiful Oakland Alameda Coliseum which is only about 35 minutes away from Menlo Park Inn, so you should have no trouble making it out to a game. With sluggers like Boog Powell, Khris Davis, and Stephen Piscotty and pitchers like Kendall Graveman, Sean Manaea, and Santiago Casilla, the A’s look like they are ready for a deep post-season run. Maybe if they win the World Series, Brad Pitt would be interested in a sequel.
