Nothing cures the holiday blues better than an encounter with Santa, Rudolph or a train festooned with 70,000 twinkling lights. A Bay area holiday tradition chugs into town on December 7, when the Caltrain Holiday Train makes its Menlo Park stop at 7:45 pm. A free, family-friendly event, it brings together thousands of Menlo Park merrymakers for holiday entertainment and the collection of toys for local children who might otherwise miss the season's gift-giving tradition. The fun unfolds against the backdrop of Menlo Park's historic train station, which was built in 1867 by the San Francisco and San Jose Railroad. Come down and mingle with locals and guests of Menlo Park hotels and snap a selfie with an elf.
