HELPING HANDS

Merging art, technology and medicine, the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University presents "Inside Rodin's Hands," an inter-disciplinary approach to the study of French sculptor Auguste Rodin's bronze works of the hand. It all began when Dr. James Chang visited the Rodin Sculpture Garden at Stanford as an undergrad. Later, while training in plastic and reconstructive surgery there, his interest grew as he saw signs in the sculptures of conditions he was learning to identify. Today, he teaches a popular undergraduate seminar called "Surgical Anatomy of the Hand: From Rodin to Reconstruction" – the basis for this extraordinary exhibit on view through August 3. While there, be sure to see the Cantor's other Rodin bronzes on docent-led tours on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. No doubt, you'll be in the company of other inquisitive Menlo Park hotel guests.
